2 kW Solar System Price in Jaipur — Cost, Output and Subsidy

A 2 kW solar system generates roughly 3,200 units a year in Jaipur — about 8 to 9 units a day — and attracts ₹60,000 of PM Surya Ghar subsidy, the maximum available before the per-kilowatt rate drops. Indicative installed cost is ₹1,20,000 to ₹1,55,000 before subsidy.

This is the size that suits a normal family home with one air conditioner and a monthly bill around ₹1,500 to ₹2,500. It is also the last size at which the subsidy pays the full ₹30,000 per kilowatt, which makes the arithmetic here unusually favourable.

Pricing is an indicative installed-cost band, not a quotation. Roof type, structure, mounting height, cable run length and module availability all move the figure, and a firm price is issued only after a site survey. Generation assumes roughly 1,600 kWh per kWp per year; savings assume the tariff stated on this page. Subsidy figures follow PM Surya Ghar as currently notified — verify current rates at pmsuryaghar.gov.in.

In practice

What a 2 kW system actually powers

Capacity is easy to quote and hard to picture. This is what the generation covers in a real building.

  • Full lighting and fan load for a family home
  • Refrigerator, television and kitchen appliances
  • A washing machine and water pump
  • One air conditioner used in moderation

Why 2 kW is a subsidy sweet spot

PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and only ₹18,000 for the third. A 2 kW system therefore recovers ₹60,000 — nearly half its installed cost — at the highest subsidy rate the scheme offers.

The counter-argument is the ceiling: a 3 kW system claims ₹78,000, so the third kilowatt effectively costs you around ₹32,000 to ₹42,000 net for 1,600 additional units a year. If your roof and sanctioned load allow it, that is usually a good trade. If they do not, 2 kW remains an excellent-value system.

What 2 kW covers in a Jaipur home

Around 3,200 units a year covers the full lighting and fan load of a family home, a refrigerator, kitchen appliances, a washing machine and a water pump, with headroom for one air conditioner used with some discipline through the summer.

Households running two or three air conditioners continuously from April to September will exceed this. For them the honest recommendation is 5 kW, and we would rather say so at survey stage than sell a system that disappoints in its first summer.

Roof area and structural requirements

A 2 kW array needs about 150 sq ft of shade-free roof, including cleaning access. On a typical Jaipur plot that is easily found, provided the mumty, water tanks and any neighbouring construction are properly accounted for in the shadow analysis — particularly the winter shadow path, which is longer and catches more roofs than people expect.

2 kW solar system — frequently asked questions

What is the price of a 2kW solar system in Jaipur?

Indicatively ₹1,20,000 to ₹1,55,000 installed before subsidy. With the ₹60,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy for residential consumers, the net cost typically falls between ₹60,000 and ₹95,000. Final pricing is confirmed after a site survey, because structure, mounting height and cable runs genuinely move the number.

How much will a 2kW solar system save per month?

At roughly 3,200 units a year and a residential tariff around ₹7 a unit, savings work out near ₹22,000 a year, or about ₹1,800 a month averaged over the year. Actual savings are higher in summer than winter, and depend on your tariff slab — households on higher slabs save more per unit displaced.

Should I install 2kW or 3kW?

If your roof and sanctioned load allow it, 3 kW is usually the better decision. The subsidy rises from ₹60,000 to the ₹78,000 ceiling, so the third kilowatt costs roughly ₹32,000–₹42,000 net and delivers about 1,600 extra units a year — a payback of around three years on the increment alone. Choose 2 kW when roof area, sanctioned load or budget genuinely rules out the larger system.

Will a 2kW system run one air conditioner?

Yes, with reasonable use. A 1.5-ton unit running four to six hours a day through the summer sits within what 2 kW generates, alongside normal household load. Running two air conditioners for long hours will push you past it — that pattern needs 5 kW.
