15 kW Solar System Price in Rajasthan — Cost and Business Returns
A 15 kW solar system generates roughly 24,000 units a year in Rajasthan — about 65 to 68 units a day — at an indicative installed cost of ₹7,20,000 to ₹8,80,000. This is the entry point for genuinely commercial solar: guest houses, restaurants, clinics, showrooms, coaching institutes and small workshops.

Payback

The economics change character at this size. There is no PM Surya Ghar subsidy on a commercial connection, but there does not need to be. Commercial tariffs run well above domestic rates, so every unit you displace is worth more — and a building consuming through daylight hours self-consumes most of what it generates. Paybacks of three and a half to four and a half years are realistic.
Specification
15 kW solar system — cost, output and requirements
Every figure below is modelled for Jaipur-region conditions on a clean, unshaded, correctly designed array. They are planning numbers, not a quotation.
| System capacity | 15 kW |
|---|---|
| Indicative installed cost | ₹7,20,000 – ₹8,80,000 |
| PM Surya Ghar subsidy | Not applicable — the scheme covers residential connections only |
| Tax treatment | Accelerated depreciation available to profit-making entities |
| Daily generation | 65 to 68 units on an average day |
| Annual generation | About 24,000 units |
| Roof area required | About 1,050 sq ft, shade-free |
| Solar panels | 27 to 28 modules at present-day panel wattage |
| Indicative annual saving | About ₹2,16,000 |
| Simple payback | 3.5 to 4.5 years |
Pricing is an indicative installed-cost band, not a quotation. Roof type, structure, mounting height, cable run length and module availability all move the figure, and a firm price is issued only after a site survey. Generation assumes roughly 1,600 kWh per kWp per year; savings assume the tariff stated on this page. Subsidy figures follow PM Surya Ghar as currently notified — verify current rates at pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
In practice
What a 15 kW system actually powers
Capacity is easy to quote and hard to picture. This is what the generation covers in a real building.
- A small hotel, guest house or restaurant
- A clinic or diagnostic centre with imaging load
- A showroom with heavy air conditioning
- A small workshop or processing unit
Why commercial solar does not need a subsidy
A domestic consumer displaces units worth around ₹7. A commercial consumer often displaces units worth ₹9 to ₹10 or more, depending on tariff category and demand charges. That difference alone closes most of the gap the subsidy would have filled.
Businesses also have a tax lever households do not. Accelerated depreciation on solar assets improves the post-tax position materially for a profit-making entity, and for many of our commercial clients it moves the effective payback well inside four years. Your accountant should model this alongside our generation figures.
Self-consumption is what decides the return
The value of a commercial solar plant is set almost entirely by how much of its generation you use on site. A unit you self-consume avoids the full retail tariff. A unit you export is credited at a lower value under net metering.
That is why we size from twelve months of consumption data rather than from roof area. A 15 kW system on a building that consumes 30,000 units a year in daylight hours is excellent. The same system on a building that runs mostly in the evening is a much weaker proposition, and we will tell you so.
What is different about a commercial installation
- Sizing modelled against twelve months of consumption and your actual tariff structure
- Assessment of the existing LT panel, sanctioned load and available headroom
- Structural survey of the roof — commercial buildings vary far more than homes
- Net-metering application, feasibility approval and inspection managed end to end
- Documented commissioning with measured test results, as-builts and an O&M pack
- Monitoring configured so a drop in generation is visible before it shows on a bill

15 kW solar system — frequently asked questions
What is the cost of a 15kW solar system in Rajasthan?
Indicatively ₹7,20,000 to ₹8,80,000 installed. Per kilowatt that is meaningfully cheaper than a 3 kW residential system, because fixed costs — design, mobilisation, net-metering process — spread across more capacity. Final pricing follows a site survey and a look at your existing electrical infrastructure.
Can a business claim the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?
No. PM Surya Ghar is a residential scheme covering homes with a domestic connection. Commercial and industrial consumers are not eligible. What businesses do get instead is a higher tariff to displace and accelerated depreciation on the asset, which together usually produce a better return than the residential scheme delivers.
How much can a 15kW system save a small business?
Around ₹2,16,000 a year at a commercial tariff near ₹9 a unit, assuming strong daytime self-consumption. The figure moves with your tariff category, your demand charges and how much of the generation you actually use on site rather than export. We model your own bills before quoting a savings number.
How long does a 15kW commercial installation take?
Physical installation is typically four to seven working days. The end-to-end timeline from order to a working net meter is usually eight to twelve weeks, dominated by DISCOM feasibility approval, net-meter sanction and inspection scheduling rather than by construction.
